Kathryn Nicholson - Artistic Director
Artistic Director Kathryn Nicholson is well known in Vancouver’s choral community as a dynamic vocal performer, choral conductor and irrepressible spirit who inspires choir and audience members alike with her joy, enthusiasm and ability to foster community.
Kathryn has a strong and varied musical background, with many years of formal training in both voice and piano at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She has performed with a variety of professional choirs, music theatre and opera companies, both in Ontario and British Columbia, and has shared the stage with many well-known Vancouver musicians.
Kathryn’s extensive choral conducting background includes leading the Universal Gospel Choir (2007-13), the Helena Choir (Health Arts Society, 2014-16), and the elite 16-voice jazz ensemble, Sound Eclectic (2013-22). She holds a Master’s in Music Therapy and Counselling and has taught voice for many years, both in private practice and as part of the faculty at Capilano University. Kathryn has been a singing member of Vancouver’s EnChor and Pandora's Vox ensemble.
Diane Lines – Accompanist
Diane Lines is a well-known pianist, vocalist and composer on the Vancouver music scene. She lights up the room with her musicality, spirited energy and delightful sense of humour, while laying down remarkable performances inspired by her deep and diverse musical career. In addition to performing with world-renowned musical artists like Michael BublĂ©, Diane has regularly toured North America with her own signature show, ‘Jump.’ She was inducted into the BC Entertainment Hall of Fame in 2017.
Diane has been the accompanist for a number of choirs including the Universal Gospel Choir with director Kathryn Nicholson. Her knowledge, sense of humour and amazing musical talent add huge joy to Tuesday evening rehearsals and HMS performances.
